I think this may be the oldest song on the record. It originally had simpler, cheesier lyrics. And also was more "lovey" about this one girl. I re-wrote words later after I got over her completely and made it more of a "I was young and dumb, but hey we're all okay now eh?" sorta jam. Hence the title, "The New One" i.e. the newer version
Some more shinfo: I wrote this to try and replicate "Screaming Infidelities" by Dashboard Confessional. A pop song without a real chorus or verse, just a few different "parts" all equally catchy and the hook in their own way.
lyrics
sometimes we facilitate mistakes, and sometimes we're loving just the same, and I know I was standing proud, your ax of words cut me down, for better or worse, you hurt me for sure, and I can't stop complaining, why can't I stop
And I wonder, of those moments what could have been, cliched words heads hearts and hands don't quite fit in
now he has won, an odd choice for you, I'm getting over I don't love you
now he has won, an odd choice for you, I'm getting over I can't love you
I'm dead on my two feet
I'll never love again
I can't stand on my two feet
I'll never whine again
